    Golf & Country Clubs

Cedarwood Golf and Country Club offers a mature, half-century old championship golf course. When it opened in the early 60’s, it was located in a largely rural area of Mecklenburg County. The course was opened with much fanfare as Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and Jack Nicklaus joined in an exhibition to mark the grand opening. Today, Cedarwood is a very family-oriented club at which new friends are easily made by children and adults alike. In 2000, a new clubhouse opened that is uniquely inspired by the Hezekiah Alexander House built in 1774. In fact, that home is the oldest standing structure in the greater Charlotte area.

Carmel Country Club is also in the south Charlotte area. It is a private club with two 18-hole championship golf courses and an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Tennis courts are also offered. Meeting rooms are provided for executive use. This is a very exclusive club that is still very family-oriented.
